A Pennsylvania transit officer has been accused of assaulting someone during a violent incident in Mount Ephraim, New Jersey.
According to authorities, the suspect violently assaulted a person in Mount Ephraim NJ on September 5, 2016.
Additionally, the suspect allegedly committed a break-in in Mount Ephraim on October 10, 2016. This has resulted in the suspect facing additional criminal charges.
The suspect is a 30-year-old man who works as a transit officer for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) and has been employed in that capacity for six years. He has been charged with numerous crimes in connection with the two incidents, including simple assault, burglary, and theft of movable property.
It is believed that both alleged criminal incidents occurred while the suspect was off duty from his job with SEPTA. Additionally, as soon as SEPTA became aware of the criminal charges against the suspect, they placed him on administrative leave. Depending on the outcome of the pending criminal charges, the suspect could end up being sentenced to a lengthy term of incarceration and subsequently dismissed from his job.
