Police recently apprehended a Sicklerville NJ man wanted on burglary charges in Gloucester Township, New Jersey.
The suspect, a 38-year-old man who lives at a Mango Court residence in Sicklerville, allegedly committed the robbery around 4:30 p.m. at a Gloucester Township home. The homeowner noticed an intruder inside his residence and immediately dialed 911 to notify the Gloucester Township Police Department.
Police officers quickly arrived at the scene and went inside the home to arrest the suspect. The Gloucester Township NJ police officers reportedly found the suspect hiding in a bedroom closet in the attic of the residence.
It is believed that the suspect broke into the residence in order to steal copper pipes. When the police officers came across the suspect, he was allegedly holding an electric power saw and attempting to cut copper pipes.
The suspect lives in Sicklerville, which is a community in Winslow Township, NJ. He has been charged with numerous crimes, including burglary, possession of burglary tools, and resisting arrest.
Gloucester Township police later arrested the suspect’s alleged accomplice, a 35-year-old man who also resides in Sicklerville, New Jersey. He faces the same criminal charges as the main suspect.
If either suspect is convicted of burglary, they would be subject to severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:18-2, burglary is typically classified as a third degree felony. A conviction on third degree burglary charges could lead to a sentence of 3-5 years in New Jersey State Prison.
