Lindenwold NJ police recently arrested two men accused of stealing dirt bikes.
The Lindenwold Police Department received a report of two suspects loading motorcycles into a grey van outside a vacant house located at 326 Chestnut Avenue in Lindenwold, New Jersey. When police arrived at the scene, they saw the van pulling away.
Lindenwold police officers followed the van as it headed in the direction of White Horse Pike. When the van got to the 100 block of East Elm Avenue, the officers stopped the vehicle. At that point, one of the suspects allegedly exited the van and attempted to flee on foot. He reportedly ran into a nearby wooded area.
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old driver of the van stayed inside the vehicle. He was placed under arrest without incident.
Lindenwold police established a perimeter and began to canvass the area for the other suspect. Police eventually captured the 21-year-old suspect and placed him under arrest.
When police searched the suspects’ van, they reportedly discovered three stolen motorcycles. The bikes had been registered to a person who lived on Cedar Avenue and who had reported the bikes as stolen earlier in the day. The bikes are said to have a combined value of approximately $9,000.
Authorities also indicated that the suspects’ van was unregistered.
Both suspects hail from Lawnside, NJ. They have been charged with a number of crimes, including burglary, theft of movable property, and criminal mischief. Additionally, the suspects have been cited for several traffic violations.
After being arrested and charged, the suspects were taken to the Camden County Correctional Facility. They were both being held at the jail in lieu of bail.
