A woman from Vineland was arrested by police on DUI and possession of marijuana charges.
The woman, Emily Tobolski, was allegedly found asleep in her car at the intersection of South Delsea Drive and West Elmer Road in Vineland. According to the off-duty officer that found Tobolski, the car was still running and the brake lights were on when he arrived. He then contacted the police who responded to the scene and had to knock several times on the window to wake Tobolski up. After she woke, the police performed field sobriety tests on her and noticed the smell of marijuana. A subsequent search of the car produced a bong and marijuana.
Tobolski was charged with driving while intoxicated (DUI), possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Since DUI is covered under the same statute as DWI, the penalties will usually be quite similar if convicted. They include a month in county jail, a drivers license suspension of 7 months to a year, and classes at the intoxicated driver research center. In regards to the marijuana possession, Tobolski will be charged as a disorderly person since the amount was less than 50 grams. Penalties for this offense include fines, 6 months in county jail, and a six month license suspension.
